When a property owner desires connection to the sewerage system within 25 years after
construction of the sanitary sewer line, and he or a previous owner has not contributed
to the cost of constructing the sanitary sewer line, he must pay to the water and
wastewater department a proportionate cost of construction based on the footage his
property abuts the sanitary sewer. After payment, the owner may construct a service
line, pay a plumbing fee and a sewer tap fee, and, after the line has been inspected
and approved, connect to the system.
(b)
If the connection is desired more than 25 years after completion of the sanitary sewer
main, then there is no assessment for construction costs, and only the appropriate
plumbing and sewer tap fees are paid.
