§ 82-325. Septic tank systems.

  • (a)

    Applications for a septic tank usage permit shall be made to the county health department accompanied with a set of plans, topographic sketches, percolation tests, rock borings and other data as deemed necessary by the health department. Copies of the application shall be forwarded to the city water and wastewater department for comments and approval. A fee shall be payable to the city at the time the application is made in an amount set by the city.

    (b)

    The owner of the septic tank shall bear all operation and maintenance expenses incident to a sanitary operation.

    (c)

    At such time as a public sanitary sewer becomes available to property served by a septic tank, provided that said public sanitary sewer is within 100 feet of the property line, a direct connection in compliance with other sections of this article shall be made. This connection shall be made within 24 months of the receipt of notice of availability of the public sanitary sewer for all properties of less than one acre of land.

    (d)

    All abandoned septic tanks shall be filled with clean-run gravel or suitable substitute material at the expense of the property owner.
