§ 82-271. Measurements, tests, and analyses.

Latest version.
  • (a)

    All measurements, tests, and analyses of wastes to which reference is made in this division shall be determined in accordance with the latest edition of standard methods. Analyses shall be determined at the control manhole, or upon a suitable sample taken at the control manhole. In the event that no control manhole is available on the building sewer, then the control manhole shall be considered the nearest downstream manhole to which the building sewer is directly connected. When the city council deems it necessary, the owner of any property served by a building sewer carrying industrial wastes shall install a suitable control manhole on the building sewer to facilitate observation and sampling of wastes. Such manhole, when required, shall be accessible, safely located, and constructed at the owner's expense in accordance with city specifications.

    (b)

    Sampling shall be done by accepted methods in order to reflect the effect of contaminants on the sewerage system and the public health. The particular analyses involved dictate whether samples should be 24-hour composites or grab samples:

    (1)

    Composites: BOD suspended solids;

    (2)

    Grabs: pH, temperature.

    Determination of which type sample to take shall be governed by recommended sampling procedures in the standard methods.
