§ 30-22. Fire chief—Appointed.

  • The fire chief shall be appointed by the mayor and city council, and shall be the chief executive officer of the fire department, subject to the orders and regulations of the mayor and council. Prior to entering upon the discharge of his duties, the fire chief shall take and subscribe the oath prescribed by this Code. In the event of resignation, removal, death, or disability of the fire chief, the officer next in rank shall perform the duties of the chief until removal of such disability or until a successor has been appointed.
