§ 2-179. Departmental organization.

(a)

The administrative service of the city shall be divided into the following departments with the following department head positions:

(1)

Finance department, finance director.

(2)

Water and wastewater department, water and sewerage superintendent.

(3)

Street maintenance department, street superintendent.

(4)

Police department, police chief.

(5)

Fire department, fire chief.

(6)

Building and licensing department, building official.

(b)

Certain departments are further described in this chapter. The police department is further described in chapter 54, pertaining to law enforcement. The fire department is further described in chapter 42, pertaining to fire prevention and protection. Finally, a description of each department's composition, the method of appointment and the duties of the head of each department shall be found by department title in the list of job descriptions on file in the city clerk's office.
